---|---|---|---|
| |||
| Presentations are 1 - 4 minute demonstrations of something accomplished that affects Pulp, a pulp Plugin, or the Pulp community. Presenters can be anyone from the community. |
| |||
| ## Deciding to present |
| |||
| There is a call for presenters sent to the pulp-dev@redhat.com email address whenever a demo is being organized. It has instructions on how to signup which is putting your name, nick, and title onto an etherpad. |
| |||
| You can present live, or record a video. |
| |||
| ## Recording a Video |
| |||
| Typically a tool like [recordmydesktop](http://recordmydesktop.sourceforge.net/about.php) is used to record both audio and video at the same time. Whatever you use, make sure that you: |
| |||
| 1\. Increase the font! Whatever you think is readable, make it a lot bigger. |
| 2\. Check your audio level. We can't fix audio that is recorded too soft or too loud when we playback the video. |
| |||
| Come up with a title that is 50 chars or less. Also come up with a description. It can be one or more paragraphs. |
| |||
| Send the recorded video as an attachment, the title, and the description to bbouters@redhat.com. Alternatively, you can send a link to download the video file from. The video will be posted to YouTube on the Pulp channel along with a custom thumbnail that includes your title and name. Please indicate that you are granting the right for it to be posted to YouTube in your email. |
| |||
| ## Presenting Live |
| |||
| 1\. Have the necessary google-talk plugins installed in the browser you present from. You can verify this yourself by trying a Youtube Hangout yourself. |
| 2\. Ping bmbouter on freenode for the presenter link at least 10 minutes prior to start time. |
| 3\. Join and give a screenshare and audio test. |
| |||
| During the presentation share your screen before it's your turn. Even though your screen may be shared, the users only see your screen when it's your time. |
| |||
| ##### Best Practices |
| |||
| Use Chrome, Use xterm, come 10 min early, make sure you are signing in with an @gmail.com account. |
| |||
| ##### Known Issues |
| |||
| - Sometimes presenters receive a 403 error when joining. If you experience this, make sure you are joining with an Google Identity that is not "managed" by Google Apps for Business. In other words, use an @gmail.com address. If you are still having issues, consider signing out of your other accounts except for one @gmail.com address. |
| |||
| <!-- end list --> |
| |||
| - Screensharing doesn't work with Wayland. People who do a lot of presenting, switch back to [xterm by default](https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/96134/how-can-i-set-xorg-as-a-default-on-fedora-25/). |
