In a discussion on pulp-dev\[0\] we decided that models shouldn't validate data (but rather serializers should). The Stages API should provide a way for plugin writers to validate Content data when syncing. \[0\] https://www.redhat.com/archives/pulp-dev/2019-December/msg00003.html
