  - Prerequisites to building:

      - ~~No open issues blocking this release~~

      - No procedural issues blocking this release (such as merge-forward issues, broken CI env, and similar)

          - **There is a potential merge conflict resolution issue currently being investigated. A blocking issue will be opened if necessary; at this time the beta release of 2.12.2 is expected to happen March 7 (one day later than expected)**

  - test scratch build from beta branch

      - Automated test results approved by QE

  - beta release built from dev branch

  - waiting period (1 week after beta 1 release date) before GA is allowed

  - beta release promoted to GA March 13, 2017 at the earliest
