A Blob is a Content unit with the additional parameters:

digest: CharField(255)

This story will be complete when CRD is possible for Blobs (for this story, the metadata is not expected to be extracted from the file, but provided by the user in the request body.)

There was a discussion how to name the model Layer or Blob.

Layers are stored in the blob portion of the registry, keyed by digest. [0]
Because registry stores it in a blob portion, the api endpoint is blob, same as for the errors are also referring to blob. [1]
