There was a bit of confusion around this during triage. Are plugin writers trying to add 'id' columns to their content unit models that inherit from Content?

Unfortunately I can't provide that information as I didn't participate on the plug-in writer workshop.
This is my secondhand attempt to convert the feedback e-mail into an issue as a plug-in writer advocate.
